Matthew Evans joins WBR Group

WBR Group (WBR), the UK’s largest independent provider of SSAS services and tax experts, has announced the appointment of Matthew Evans to the position of Executive Director with immediate effect.

Matthew has almost 30 years’ experience in the financial services and tax sectors.  At WBR he will be responsible for growing the firm’s tax practice, leading WBR’s “Blue Room” creativity team and developing strategic partnerships.

Matthew joined WBR from RSM, where he had led the East Midlands Private Client Tax team and was ‘the voice of the entrepreneur’ for their UK practice.  Prior to RSM, he spent 15 years working in the Big 4, eventually heading up the tax technical group of Ernst & Young (EY) in London.

Tom Moore, CEO, WBR Group, said: “We are really pleased to welcome Matthew to the WBR team.  I have known him for many years and he brings with him a wealth of experience and expertise.  He will be a great asset to our senior leadership team and our clients.  He joins us at a time when WBR is experiencing significant growth and expansion, following a number of recent acquisitions.

“Across the range of our services, businesses and their owners look to us to help make their lives better. We achieve that with hard work, technical skill, imagination, creativity, intelligence, and empathy. With Matthew on board, we are confident that we can continue to deliver excellent outcomes for our clients and grow our business further.”

Commenting on his appointment, Matthew Evans, Executive Director said: “Joining WBR is an exciting opportunity for me.  As a seasoned tax professional, I have spent most of my life advising entrepreneurs and family businesses, and I have always recommended they consider a SSAS as part of their holistic tax planning.  Finding the right culture was also very important to me when deciding on my next career move and WBR enables innovation and thought leadership.  WBR strive to deliver the best outcomes for their clients, and are always thinking ahead, aiming to provide everything that a client might need relating to their ‘family pension’, so was a perfect fit for me.”
